German recovered paper prices stable, for now

Date: 21.06.2016 ~ Author: skanwell ~ Category: News

Recovered paper prices remain unchanged so far in Germany. Following a decline in prices for ordinary recovered paper grades at the beginning of the month, no further reduction in prices has been observed in May. EUWID respondents believe, however, that June will bring another fall in prices for ordinary RCP grades on the German market.

Recovered paper demand from the Far East is still weak and has resulted in excess supply on the German domestic market, especially for supermarket corrugated paper and board (1.04). The supply situation is becoming even more pronounced as suppliers from neighbouring markets, who are facing the same problems with the Far East, are trying to sell off additional volumes in Germany.

Against the background of slow Far East export business and rising supply, prices for ordinary recovered paper are expected to become cheaper in June. Mixed paper (1.02), however, willl be less susceptible to downward price pressure than supermarket corrugated paper and board, according to EUWID sources.
